BLARGH! YES! I did another actual piece of art that wasn't a meme/comic. Yes, I know the title is way lame, but honestly I couldn't think of anything better... and it seemed so fitting. This is my humanized version of the wonderful Amaterasu from the game Okami. I can't say this is my final version of her... 'cause I've been so inspired by other artist's versions that I wanna change mine. XD But I got too far into finishing this that I could do any drastic design change. The logo in the top corner, I DID NOT DO. That's the official logo that I sto-- *cough* borrowed. CREDITS! Textures (c) ~struckdumb Okami/Amaterasu (c) Clover Human Design (c) ME!! =firefly376 [EDIT] Changed her nose. Decided the button look wasn't really working for me. XD [EDIT 2] Lightened up on the texture a little bit. :3 CommentsAww, thank you my sweetest!

Uhm so overall I really like this, I think the composition is pretty strong and the colours are really good. I've never played the game but it represents everything I've seen about it, so that's a good thing, I think XD
The biggest things that are off, to me, is her anatomy XD At first I thought her leg was too short, but on a second glance I think it's just because her leg was bent and how her other leg is cropped in the background. Cropping her leg probably wasn't a good idea, though I can understand you had to fit her into the circle somehow, and it's cooler if not all of her is spilling out of it. However, because one of her legs already gives the illusion of being shorter, cropping the other one reinforces the idea, so it takes away some of the power from her pose. A lot of the sense of power in this picture is coming from the area around her head. Her face has a lot of authority, and her shoulders are well positioned. The colours in the background also definitely help a lot.
Another problem with the girl is her arm. It seems to short (what's with me and length??
I love her arm that's in the background and have absolutely no issues with it XD
Asides from those things, everything's great! I love how busy it is inside the O but the outside its pretty plain, but not too plain. I think maybe the O could have taken up more room on the page than it does now, but it's fine either way. Also, if you wanted, I think you could have increased the contrast in the shadows, but that could just be personal taste XD
I really love how you drew her outfit, especially the fur, and the fold in the skirt where she bends her leg... I'm so bad with folds, that looks so hard to do!
However, some of the composition still feels quite clunky and hard to focus on. There's isn't a very strong flow that my eyes can follow, I start on her face and maybe go out to her left arm, skip to Okami in wolf form then I'm lost. I don't get this sense of completeness from the flow of the characters and that really disrupts how awesome I think this artwork could be. I suggest studying composition and perspective a little more to help you create more interesting layouts.
My second peeve is the background texture, I understand the need and allure of having that old parchment paper look but I think some of the lines and wrinkles are a little overkill, like the upper right corner. It's also a tad too dark, I feel kind of closed in when I'm looking at this and that's not the right kind of feel I should have when looking at Okami. I think toning down the opacity and creating this brighter more open look would work wonders for you.
Overall, the refined lines and bright colors of Okami really drew me in and I love that, but the overbearing background really kills the moos of an otherwise lovely piece of Okami fan-art!
